We're nuts for BA21 Volume Six, which pairs creamy peanut butter and dreamy chocolate in an unbeatable beer treat. Planted in a bourbon barrel for ten months, it's flavor has blossomed to smooth perfection.

Very dark, nearly black beer with a surprising amount of tan head considering the ABV.

Smells strongly of chocolate and peanut butter, reminds me of a peanut butter cup.

Dark chocolate at first, definite peanut butter and bourbon.

Not as thick as expected, but surprisingly smooth for the strength. Has a bit of warming at the finish.

Maybe not the most amazing example of the style I have tried, but still very good and very drinkable, considering how strong it is. I am growing to like this brewery more, and this beer is a good example of why.

Remarkably easy to drink and tasty. Chocolate and nutty. Feel is only okay, a bit sharp and thin, but not bad. 13.3% shouldn't be this easy to drink but it is. And it's good.

Canned on 02-12-21.

A - Dark brown colored pour with dense burnt toffee colored lacing that sticks to the sides of the glass like glue.

S - Toasted chocolate, light char, Bourbon, and peanut butter (pretty straight forward).

T - Toasted chocolate malt, Bourbon, oak residue, light char and delicate peanut butter. Ends on the sweeter, boozier side.

M - Thick, soft texture, and as the carbonation settles on the tongue it makes for a slightly "airy" feel. There's a slight bit of warming on the way down. After the sip the saliva in the mouth has some thickening (maybe from the peanut flour?).

O - Not a fan of the airy texture on the tongue but overall it's a really solid beer.

Pours an effervescent chestnut/mahogany with a thumb of mocha colored head. Some head retention & lacing

S: Dark fruit, boozeyness

T: Dark fruit, boozeyness, barrel rawness, some peanuts & coffee up front. Figs, raisins, woody hops, barrel boozeyness as this warms. finishes with cola flavor, woodyness, some booze warmth & raisins, plus peanuts

MF: Medium body, assertive carbonation, warming

Not bad, but not really wowing me, this is not one I would buy again, the floor is high on this style of beer & ths one barely exceeds it, Aging the other 2 & hoping for better, too hot for starters, but also just not a great flavor combination

Not sure if I prefer it to10Fidy (or Sierra Nevada's far cheaper Narwhal) but I prefer it to all the Founders stouts. (which I also like quite a bit). Despite the peanut and chocolate flavorings, this is not too sweet of a stout. It's made for people who like beer more than dessert, and it can be enjoyed as a sipper or when more or less chugged.
