Picked up a four-pack from Oskar Blues Brevard, NC location's cooler on 11-4-24 for $19.99. Canned 11-30-23; consumed can #1 for review 11-5-24.
Beer poured dark brown with a pretty good off-white head that still retains a ring of head retention after a few sips.
Nose is very nice as i am getting toffee and dark fruit from the base beer and from the rum barrel a touch of vanilla and coconut.
Taste follows the nose as the malt base is giving me a good strong dose of raisins and a touch of toffee. Barrel is deftly applied and lends a behind the scenes touch of vanilla and coconut. Each sip brings a nice warming touch on this cool rainy afternoon. Hopping alone could balance this and the barrel lends a helping hand to eliminate any sweetness.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and smooth.
Overall i could see this mellowing and possibly improving. It will be fun to make notes over time as it evolves!
