smooth kolsch, nice after taste , great for all day drinking - not much hop taste - more of a smooth malt taste - not overwelming

this is a tasty beer for sure, but as a kolsch, i think it leaves a little bit to be desired, well made as it is and all, it just is heavy for the style, drinks more like a sturdy pils, not as light and delicate as i like the style to be, and nowhere near as dry. i didnt expect the blonde brew to be as robust as it is, maltier and richer than kolsch is supposed to get, which normally isnt a bad thing, but this is not true to the classic style in that way. it has a lot of body too, more than it should for what its trying to be. maltiness and weight aside, its really pleasant beer, uniquely european on the malt front, mostly pilsener type, but something a little richer too, a crisp almost lagered complexion though at the same time, refined like cold conditioning provides, and still easy drinking despite the body and residual sweet note. there are some hops on the back end too, a noble type, grassy and slightly spicy, lower alpha and balancing here. good carbonation moves it right along too. overall a nice european blonde type, but as a kolsch its a bit too substantial for the style...
