This isn’t your traditional ipa, but good for them to be pioneers and try something different. There isn’t much on the nose for this beer, but the appearance is amazing, copper color with an okay head. The flavor is something like a traditional ipa but a sweeter ipa, nothing citrusy about it, the sweetness is definitely from the corn addition, all in all it’s a nice change I absolutely love it.

L: The appearance of the beer is solid for an IPA. Decent head retention and a nice orange color.
S: The smell is where something starts to go wrong. There is a grain alcohol smell mixed in with the malts and hops that does not appeal to me.
T: It tastes a bit better than it smells. It too crisp up front and lacks a malt backbone to balance the hop bitterness. The body tastes strongly like a hopped up American Adjunct Lager.
F: The mouthfeel is below average for an IPA. It is light and lacks the malty gravity necessary to balance out hops.
O: This is the first "Corn IPA" that I have ever drank and I think it was just a bad idea. I told a friend that it brought to mind a mixture of PBR and an IPA and I stand by that description. The corn adjunct just doesn't bring enough to the table to make a good IPA. An interesting experiment, but one that I feel is a failure. A shame, really, because I've enjoyed the other beers from this local brewery and several people have told me they like this beer.
I had this beer on tap at JT Walker's while I was sampling their in-house brews. It was served in a standard pint glass well below room temperature.
