2014 bottle, poured at AtG on Bo & Luke Day, 2015, courtesy of the brewery.
Nose was enticing, with cognac notes. Taste was brilliant, barrel notes almost reminiscent of apple brandy. The smoke traditionally associated with the base beer is practically non-existent. No harsh finish, just smooth without losing that ever-so-slight edge.
*Had another bottle, March 2016 at a share. Pretty close to a cognac bomb, still practically no smoke. Excellent, ratings unchanged.

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter.
Appearance - Black body. Doesn't appear as inky and black as previous batches. Small khaki head and a wispy surface.
Smell - The cognac is pretty nice. Less weird. Smoke balances very well. Boozy, but a rich cognac aroma.
Taste - Cognac is strong, especially up front. Chocolate. A little smoke. Cognac really dominates the whole thing, though.
Mouthfeel - Medium heavy. Boozy. Well carbonated.
Overall - Cognac completely overwhelms, but it definitely works better than some of these other treatments.
