More of a pale ale than an IPA, very little hop aroma, restrained mild citrus hop, drinks ok but thin finish and no lingering bite I like in an IPA. Ok,

Pours a lightly cloudy deep amber colour with a medium tall off-white fluffy head with serious retention; gets fluffier as it fades & takes several minutes to die down. Not a lot of aroma; some mild hops & light bready malts. Taste is hops up front; pine & grapefruit with fairly smooth sweet malts keeping company, then a slightly astringent bitterness lingers on the tongue. Mouthfeel is decently creamy & medium full. This IPA is just ok; not much in the flavour department for an IPA these days but nothing unpleasant either. With so many good ones around these days, i doubt I'll go looking for this one again, but it was a decent drink.

This was just delicious. Junction Craft Brewing's Engineer's India Pale Ale. Brewed in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.473 ml can. 6.2% alc. Off-white head head. Hazy light amber colour. Notes of citrus, pine, bread crust. Taste is much the same. Really enjoyable hop bitterness that is more prominent on the finish. The beer has a really clean and refreshing feel to it. The body is medium. I would most certainly buy this again.

can, best before sep 3 2017. clear light amber with off-white head. pretty much no nose. only getting offensive hop bitterness and little malt/sweetness. slightly prickly carbonation. really atrocious, and probably the quickest drain pour i've ever done

A: Slightly hazy but clear amber colour. Medium amount of bubbly head that slowly subsided.
S: Dry and slightly bitter faint aroma. Hints of pine, resin, and herbal grassiness.
T: Pungent deep dry dank roasty and slightly bitter initial taste. The somewhat lingering taste is resiny, piney, with hints of grapefruit and citrus rind that is dry but not too dry and a little bitter. Some toffee maltiness and pineapple fruitiness later became more prevalent in the aftertaste. It's modestly boozy which is not unexpected given the alcohol content.
F: Noticable medium amount of carbonation hits you first and then smooths out.
O: Paired alright with some spicy curry but is a bit too heavy and bitter in taste for casual drinking,

Can purchased from the LCBO.
Pours clear copper with a foamy, medium sized head. Patchy foam coats the glass. The aroma is piney, grapefruity, herbal hops mixed with sweet caramel. An earthy, herbal hop character and a bit of white grapefruit hits first in the taste. Then a doughy, christmas pudding maltiness takes over and dominates till the medium dry finish. Fruity English yeast esters in there too, I doubt this was brewed with Cali Ale yeast. Alcohol is strong for the ABV. The mouthfeel is pretty full bodied for the style with a light carbonation.
An OK IPA, but the hop profile is too unassertive and gets lost in the mix. Some medicinal alcohol notes also detract.

Got this one at the LCBO in Waterloo this past summer.
From a 500ml bottle into a sinfter
IBU: 60
Four malts and four hops. Thanks.
APPEARANCE: Pours a two finger, slightly looser, foamy white head with excellent retention. Slightly hazy gamboge orange with no carbonation evident. Head slowly fades to a full foamy, rocky cap and coats the top of the glass. A foamy, splotchy wisp remains leaving some good lacing on the glass as it empties.
SMELL: Lemon, lime and lemon grass, with some orange up front. Melon and mandarin as well. Lots of orange and lemon aroma, which is rather nice and quite unique in the style.
TASTE: Follows the nose nicely. Some grassy notes, with lemon, lime, and lots of lemon grass up front. Some caramel sweetness at the swallow, then more mandarin, lemon and lime, orange zest, melon and a good deal of grassy hops in the finish. Bold and lingering finish with enough hop bitterness to balance all the fruit character. Perhaps a touch too grassy, but very interesting and unique.
PALATE: Lighter body and higher levels of carbonation. Foamy on the palate, goes down fine and finishes somewhat dry. Quite dry, actually.
OVERALL: Unlike some of the other reviewers, I think this one actually does stand out. It's got a lot of lemon grass and mandarin character that you don't find in other examples of the style. I would like to know which hops they used, actually. The label just says four west coast hops, which doesn't tell me much at all. I wish these guys would lay off the carbonation a bit, as it makes the beer too foamy and somewhat difficult to drink, but the flavor and aroma are pretty nice and unique in this one. Give it a fair chance if you see it. Enjoyed this one much, much more than their Conductors Ale.
