Appearance: Pours out a clear, rusty-amber body with a small, slim head that no amount of swirling or encouragement can revive.
Smell: Lightly sweet-scented butterscotch candy paired with breakfast time toast topped with a pat (or four) of butter. Small sniff of alcohol. The faintest hint of citrus ever, otherwise the hops seem to be AWOL.
Taste: Buttered bread with butterscotch sweetness and, though not only an IPA but a purported Double IPA, it's seriously vacant in the hop and bitterness department. Peppery alcohol does very little to cut through the heavy diacetyl.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-low carbonation.
Overall: Good grief. Really lacking in body and character that isn't the unielding butter-basted diacetyl. It's early yet, so Soaring Wings could still pull it together, but it's probably not a bad thing that they can just fall back on the wine production.
