The colour is black (100 EBC), the three finger head is brown and compact. It sinks slowly leaving lots of thick lacing. The liquid is clear.
The smell is creamy with a fine clean bitterness. Roasted notes (sweetened coffee), hints of oak barrels. It is smooth, but not very complex.
The taste is surprisingly dry and bitter. Roasted notes of charcoal, black coffee and some liquorice. Medium body. The aftertaste got some lemon-lime sourness, quite a lot of bitter hops and hints of rubber and liquorice. The finish is bitter, almost harsh with some citric notes.
The carbonation is medium strong, the few bubbles medium sized. It becomes stale very quickly. The liquid is a little sticky and light at the same time.
A very roasted and hoppy ale. Give it a little more body, and you would call it an American Stout.
