From the Brew Box, Bucky chose a 473 ml can of Campout S’More Stout by Sawdust City Brewing, intrigued by the possibility of a beer that smells and tastes like S’Mores. 5.7% alcohol by volume with a production date of December 11, 2015 printed on the bottom of the can.
Campout poured an opaque very dark brown colour verging on black. An aggressive pour was required to raise a thin, tan head that faded quickly to a thin collar and film, leaving some sporadic lacing and spotting down the glass. Its aroma was a combination of dark-roast coffee and dark cocoa…nice enough, but where are the S’Mores? The taste was dominated by dark-roast coffee, with cocoa and the very occasional faint note of white marshmallow. A mild dark-roast coffee bitterness lingered as an aftertaste. Not a bad tasting beer by any stretch, but I’m disappointed with the complete lack of graham cracker and almost complete lack of marshmallow in a beer that is billed as a S’More stout. Campout had a mellow carbonation level, was light bodied and had a thin mouthfeel. In summary, a decent tasting beer, but not as advertised.

Tried at the brewery. Served at 8deg C in a draught glass.
A- Pours a tiny head that is gone in a minute or so. Rather dark brown colour
S- Marshmallows!
T- Marshmallows and malt. Nice balance with the sweetness and dark brew. Light in the mouth on flavor. Nothing overpowers. Some coffee and a touch of chocolate. Kind of a coco flavored chocolate though
M- Watery. Very watery
O- Nice brew. Very light and mellow. Nice break.
Food Pairing
This nice little brew would go well with........ Chocolate cake!
Enjoy
