A blend of beers aged 1-3 years in Port and Madeira barrels with our house strain of wild yeasts. The beer is complex with deep, rich tobacco and earthy notes, balanced with lactic acid sweet and sour lingering finish.

A combination of ruby red and dark brown depending on which way the light hits. Pours flat with minimal lacing.
Lovely balance of sweet and sour, quite tart and dry. Barrel is really present in the finish. Age has improved this brew.

2015 vintage consumed in July 2017.
Pours a mahogany brown with some reddish highlights. There was about a thumbs worth of tight off-white head that broke slowly leaving some decent lacing behind. The predominant smells one gets are sweet/tart (like mentioned before, similar to Balsamico), some musty tobacco and then on the tail end there is some barrel. The taste changes slightly from the smell in that the mustiness is not as present, while the Medeira comes through more. The sweet/tart balsamic is still the leader in this flavor parade though. The feel is quite nice, very smooth and the carbonation was lower than average.
I had no real expectations from this beer, but it quite impressed me. I believe that the little bit of aging that this beer had had made a real difference for the positive. Well done.

Bottle from the brewery dated 12/2016. Served in a pint glass.
A - Tan foam that settles to a partial cap and thick collar. Hazy mahogany brown body, minimal lace. Pretty nice for what is traditionally an ugly style. Surprisingly good head retention.
S - A mix of nuts, tobacco, and sweet balsamic. Quite nice, with both the brown ale and the wild yeast readily perceptible and balanced in intensity. So mild fortified wine sweetness with a bit of acidity as well.
T - The flavor isn't quite as nuanced. Starts as a sweet, nutty, English brown, and yields to lactic acidity in the finish. Not overly tart like some Indie beers, but seems to lack cohesion. Not bad, by any stretch, I particularly like the sweet, leafy tobacco flavor.
M - Moderate, pleasant carbonation. Smooth, cream, medium-full body. Surprising low on tannins - wonder how many times the barrels have been reused. Not much in the way of perceptible alcohol. Very English in some ways.
D - This was pretty nice. I wish the flavor was a bit more integrated and complex, but Indie's program is slowly improving and paying dividends. A nice sour brown ale that I would drink again. Split the 750ml bottle at the office and it was finished rather quickly.
