On tap @ the brew pub.

A - Dark black with a thin layer of light brown head.

S - Big hop presence up front with fresh citrus and some pine. Moderate roast in the background.

T - Follows the nose: fresh citrus and piney hops with some grapefruit and orange peel notes. Lighter roast presence and some chocolate with a slight sweetness from the malts.

M - Medium body. Light to moderate carbonation.

Murky dark crown colour, little bit of tan head, minimal lace. Smell is quite hop forward, cocoa, faint roast, but lots of chocolate and some piney-citrus hops. Taste is chocolatey, spice, lots of hops and fairly bitter, more cocoa in the finish. Decent feel, light carbonation and mdium bodied. Not bad and im sure this would be better on tap, will gladly give this another go though.

Enjoyed on tap at the brewpub. Aromas of roast and chocolate. Opaque black with a nice bubbly mocha coloured head, and lacey. Tastes of chocolate and wheat with roast and spice. Smooth mouthfeel. Good drinkability. This would make a decent cask if I had caught up with it on Cask Days.

On tap at the brewpub.

Black body with some very mild translucence at the edges; light brown head with moderate retention and a bit of lace. Nose is very hop forward, lots of pine and some slight citrus rind. Some chocolate and light roast. Taste has the hops again at the forefront, piney, herbal and some harsh citrus rind. Dark wheat and some toasty/roasty malt notes immediately follow. Medium body and lingering bitterness. I'd consider this a black ale with wheat rather than an American dark wheat, but this still works well either way - some nice hop character.
