.5litre aluminum can acquired at a Shop and Go supermarket in Bucharest. Reviewed live. Expectations are average. 5.0% ABV. SAB Miller / Ursus. 12 degrees plato.
Served cold into an unbranded bierkrug. Side-poured with standard vigor as no carbonation issues are anticipated. Best before: 13.11.2014.
No bubble show forms as it's poured.
HEAD: Three fingers wide. Khaki-white colour. Decent creaminess an thickness. Okay frothiness. Nice retention - about 4-5 minutes. Leaves no lacing on the sides of the glass. Above average complexion and consistency.
BODY: Dark amber colour. Translucent and transparent. Clean; no yeast particulate or hop sediment is visible. Average vibrance.
Appears adequately carbonated. Nice looking for the style, but not unique or special. I'm looking forward to trying it.
AROMA: Amber malts, toasted malts, bread crust, light burnt sugars, and some syrup. On the sweeter side, sure.
A pleasantly sweet aroma of above average strength.
No yeast character, hop character, or overt alcohol is detectable - nor are any other off-notes.
TASTE: Amber malts, toasted malts, some bread crust, and hints of vaguely fruity syrup. Some vague fruity and herbal hop notes.
No yeast character, alcohol, or off-notes come through.
I do like it, though it's admittedly rather simple. It's decently balanced for what it is, but there's no real complexity, intricacy, or subtlety here.
Average depth, duration, and intensity of flavour. Below average amplitude.
TEXTURE: Smooth, wet, slightly syrupy, and medium-bodied. Unrefreshing. A biteen too thick and hefty on the palate for the lack of diverse flavour. A bit overcarbonated. This texture suits the flavour profile decently, but doesn't feel custom-tailored specifically to it.
Not oily, hot, boozy, gushed, astringent, harsh, rough, or scratchy on the palate.
OVERALL: Not a bad brew for a SAB Miller offering. I wouldn't get it again, but the price is apt and it's drinkable. I'm glad there's a darker brew commonly available in Romania, but this leaves a lot to be desired.

Timisoreana Bruna has an extremely thick, foamy, cream-colored head, a clear (some tiny specs detected, under direct sunlight), rust-brown appearance, and extremely heavy lacing left on the glass. The aroma is of sweet, toasty malt, and the flavor is of rich, yeasty, toasty malt, a noticeable, straightforward and fairly sharp hop bitterness, and a sort of creamy and/or caramel aspect. Mouthfeel is medium and a bit slick, and Timisoreana Bruna finishes on the dry side and highly drinkable. Overall, this one is a really nice dark lager, and it only gets better and more complex as one drinks it down.

Pitted sandstone head that trails over pale oxblood body.
Grain, some flint, and a bit of sickly molasses/malt syrup on the nose.
Wheat toast, some caramel sticky sweetness, apple sauce and slight earthy finish.
Light-medium, round, sticky.
A cloying, pedestrian brune. At least it’s not a pissy lager, but this would be cold comfort in a beer desert country. Dark beer is for girls in Eastern Europe, seemingly; this one is for the DDR women’s swim team.
Most like Pelforth or an anonymous Euro brune.
