Copenhagen 9/7 2020. 33 cl can from Rema 1000, Frederiksborgvej, Kbh. NV. Very green can in the Ceres brand design with a big yellow crown to signify that they apparently delivers beer to the Danish Royal Court.
Pours clear yellow with a small, bubbly, white head. Settles as thin patch of foam unable to cover the surface of the beer. No lacing.
Aroma is moderately intense with a malty sweetness and a light grainy sourness. Sweet pale malts, cardboard and bread. Light fruitiness with a bit of apple juice. Sour-ish notes.
Fairly strong carbonation. Thin, watery, tingling and lively texture.
Flavor is moderately intense. Medium strong sweetness followed by a moderately strong bitterness. Aftertaste is a little bitter with a sweet undercurrent.
Pretty middle of the road macro lager. A bit of redeeming bitterness in the aftertaste - but I am grasping for straws. To call this a Top Pilsner is a bit of a stretch.

It went down smooth after a long walk in the hot sun in Syracuse, Sicilia.

Oct. 2002. Bought in Denmark. An average Danish pilsener. Easily forgettable.............................. I am not sure if the Ceres TOP brand has been continued after the brewery closed in 2008.

Deep yellow color, very clean appearance, with an average white foam.
Not so good malt and worse hop in the smell.
In the mouth, nothing better. It left a very few tastes.
Artificial, banal.

Ceres Top - the old Aarhus classic and one of Denmarks most exported beer. It lies in the taste and expression somewhere between Carlsberg (Hof) and Tuborg (Green). It has nothing great to offer, but cooled or chilled it is a pretty good 'hand beer'. As a mainstream beer, it is far better than Carlsberg, but has nothing on Tuborg. Drink it once a tourist in Aarhus, or find it on the bar in Eastern Europe, the United States or Thailand.
Appearance is average
Smell is rather non-existing
Taste is light and fresh, and there's a minimal use of hops in this pilsner.
Mouthfeel is...hmm well there's nothing there really
And as far as drinkability goes, this one is for everybody. Not as boring or watery as Budweiser, but among danish beer, pretty generic.

I had this beer in Italy in the bottle was not really impressed. Aroma has grassy and grainy, bad quality hops. Clear and golden coloured, almost no head. Taste is on the sweet side. I enjoy some of the Ceres beers but this was just an average beer that had no qualities that stand out.
