Another beer from Hilliard's that I'm not sure where to file under, style-wise. Please feel free to update if you have a better idea (American black Ale maybe, although this isn't a hop-bomb like most CDA's).
Served in straight pint glass. Poured a nearly solid black with over an inch of medium brown head that had good retention and light lacing.
The aroma was mostly roasted malt with some base grains underneath and a touch of yeast. The taste featured the same aspects, although the yeastiness was a bit more pronounced and helped to balance out the roast.
The body was OK, a bit thin perhaps, but without knowing what the brewers were going for, it's hard to tell. Drinkability was good, I'd have this beer again. Overall, a decent, if somewhat ambiguous, brew. worth trying if you see it.
