A medium gold hue on the pour, very clear with a small but tight head of white foam. Oddly the retention of this is pretty good but there is no lacing on the glass, the head just comes down with the rest of the beer.
Honey malt sweetness matches pretty well with the delicate orange and tangerine. Somewhat creamy as well. Orange cream soda maybe, though equally as artificial. Lacks the floral and grassy crispness needed to get out of the sweet zone.
Pale grains have a light play on honey and orange blossoms backed by more of that artificial creamsicle flavor I was picking up in the nose then it falls flat. There is very little follow through as the hops are a bright citrus pith and combined with the carbonation scrubs away the flavors until there is just some residual stickiness.
Medium bodied with average carbonation on the feel. However the carbonation is really active in the mouth and interferes with the back end flavors in this beer. Alcohol is lowly detectable.
Really not too shabby more of a novelty beer, hybrid cream ale with orange cream soda essence. I picked this one up since it is a can I had never seen by Golden Road.

Golden Road - Carry On Citrus Ale 5.2%
16oz can
Appearance:
orange golden hue
off white head - quickly dissipates
soft haze but solid clarity
Aroma:
lots of soft citrus notes on the nose tangerine orange some tropical fruit but sweet smelling
aroma lacks floral hop characters
Flavor:
fruity sweetness with subtle bitterness that does not linger but the sweet lingers, lacking a depth of melanoidin character
Mouthfeel:
hop bitterness has a a weird metallic finish to it
body is medium to light some fulness probably attributed by a small amount of wheat
Overall:
orange flavor is not complemented by the hops and malts but simply overpowers it
one dimensional - orange ale

Can pour at Golden Road Brewing in Los Angeles, CA.
Pours a dark orange with a foamy bone head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy patches of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus fruit, citrus zest, and citrus juice aromas. Taste is much the same with earth, citrus juice, and citrus zest flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with solid citrus forward hop qualities that are a bit better in the smell in my opinion.
