On-tap at Beachwood Brewing
Kind of a light color for a brown ale, a bit of off-white head. Nose is all booze. There is some actual bourbon to it, but mostly it’s just the heat of the liquor. Mild vanilla and sweet malt. The flavor is a bit better with some caramel and toffee sweetness, a bit of vanilla, and maybe some wood and bourbon. Still kind of boozy, though, and the base beer is rather drowned out. Was not a fan of this one.

On tap for the first anniversary party at Beachwood BBQ & Brewing in Long Beach, CA.
Pours a clear brown with a foamy bone colored head that settles to a small cap on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, toasted nuts, vanilla, wood, and bourbon. Taste is much the same with a woody aftertaste and an alcohol kick on the finish. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer but it smells better than it tastes in my opinion.
