"Best by 11/8/16"; drank 8/14/16 @ the Yarchives.

Cloudy orange appearance.

A violent pour yielded a big, noisy eggshell head; almost no lace.

Dry cherry, mild honeyed wheat & faint cinnamon bite notes in the nose.

Medium thin mouthfeel.

Tart black cherry & mild honeyed wheat flavors up front; an increasingly sour finish.

Nicely balanced & enjoyable.

Northern German sour beer makers never saw this coming. But the Indianapolis brewers of Black Acre sure did. they laced their Berlinerweiss-style ale with cherries for an added complexity, charm and variation in taste.

Cherry Ol' Fritz pours golden and with a pale mauve low light. Light on foam retention, the zesty ale rounds the nose with cherry, citrus, wine, and a kiss of vinegar. A light salinity leads to a musty wheaten sweetness, albeit brief along with musty suggestions of the sea.

Sweetness retreats along with the bulk of carbonation while the sourness builds into a briny, musty lather. Cherries carry a bright and tangy complement to the beer's natural lactic sourness while also delivering on a mild medicinal spiciness. As the taste culminates, an unfortunate roundness of heartburn and stomach acids build.

Medium light on the palate, the beer's fermentation is shy of absolute dryness as the ale trails more like a cherry infused gose rather than berlinerweiss. A brief aftertaste of grain, cork and hay carries past the fast fleeting sourness for a crisp, rounded taste and with the ability to quench the thirst reasonably well.

A - Orange body, hazy, pink tint, mild white head, no real lacing. A fine looking example of the style.

S - Typical sour fruit and grain. Not too attractive, but not so harsh to drive me away.

T - Front is bright tart cherry fruit and acidity. Middle introduces a mild cracker malt. Close returns to acid.

M - Slight puckering and bright. But not harsh.

O - Lovely and full sour flavor. Cherry is present, but not overpowering.

Aroma is fairly lactic, with musty notes and a hint of cherry sourness.

Flavor is lactic dominant throughout, with notes of cherry adding another level of flavor. The sourness is on par with most berliners, but disappears fairly quickly.
