they call this one a blue collar pale ale, english style, and i tend to agree with them, very proletarian, and i like that. a lot of booze and a lot of malt richness and density for a quick and dirty pale, servicable to the workingman of old, but also a nice companion to their upper end pub fare. clean and easy drinking, maybe a tad too malty for me, on the amber en of the spectrum, but a quaffable brew nevertheless. sweet toffee notes are balanced by english bittering hops, proportions are right on, and this isnt trying to be anything crazy. it succeeds as a weighty session drink and a good after work beer. a little too much body, booze, and sugar for all day consumption, but a few is no chore. a clever twist mid palate where some lemon lightness creeps in, a nice summer interlude in an otherwise quite autumnal brew. another fine one from bull and bush.
