16.9 oz. Bottle
Bottled On: 7/21/15

Almost a year on this bottle. Would like to try it fresher someday.

Poured into a Squatters true pint glass, a cloudy darker pale yellow color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice three finger white foamy/creamy/thick head, which leaves some sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, peppery/spicy, kinda hoppy, ginger The taste is not that bad, malty, spicy/peppery, with some hop/citrus notes, nice touch of ginger. Medium body, ABV hidden pretty well, nice bitter finish. Overall, an interesting brew for sure, different take on the style.

Excellent gold colored body combined with a dense, foamy, white head. Herbal and grassy aroma; woody; mild cereal grain notes in the background. Taste mixes flavors of biscuit or toast with an almost metallic aftertaste; twinge of ginger twang; bitter. Medium body; warm and soft on the palate.

First off, this is a lager (per label and brewery's web site - kudos to BA staff for updating the style 10-7-15) and not an IPA. The miso and ginger add a unique twist on the flavors yet don't dominate things and allow for the gain base and hop bitterness to come through. The initial taste was a little rough, seemingly bitter and phenolic yet subsequent sips revealed a mellower, more balanced taste profile with a lager smoothness to the mouthfeel. For a different but approachable lager experience, this is worth a stab.
