A dark amber colored body; thick, foamy head with sheets of lacing down the glass. Toffee aroma. Charred sugar flavor. Medium body; somewhat fizzy.

A tasty yet rather sweet beer overall, and more amber in color than dark. Not bad.

Brown in color with good clarity. There's a fingernail of brown on top with excellent lacing. The aroma is of chocolate and caramel. I taste dark malt, dark chocolate, and caramel. The mouth is smooth, dry, and crisp.

calling this one a dark lager, but its not that dark, brown at best, but more of a deep amber, heady though in the glass with well over an inch of light brown suds. the aroma and flavor are pretty simple and clean, a euro lager yeast and a simple bready grain complexion. really the least adventurous beer in this series by a considerable margin, but the first lagered brew i have had from bull and bush in quite awhile. there is some neat stuff happening in the grain, suggestions of raisin and date, brown sugar and bran muffin, toffee too. not overly sweet by the end though, the doughy yeast does a nice job resolving that. oddly clean out of nowhere. just a bit of bitterness lingers beyond the swallow, a complete beer, but not the most interesting one these guys make. i could see this doing really well in a scotch barrel, maybe a cognac barrel, it has the body and the malt profile to work well with either, and the oak of course, but its a little plain as it currently exists. still, an affordable bottle of an authentic take on a style we dont see much of in the american craft brewing lexicon...

edit: vastly superior on tap, texturally more compelling and drier, very well made beer.
