part of the anniversary series, and while somewhat less ambitious than the maple one, still a unique and delicious beer. its a botanical driven kolsch with citrus fruit, and while its hard to ascertain exactly what botanicals might have been used, its pretty obvious that lemon is the dominant citrus fruit, if not the only actor. clear yellow beer with a short white head, tons of visible carbonation, and only a medium body. even with that, it feels just a tad weighty for the style, but i really dont mind. the lemon is sharp in the nose, zesty, fresh, very summery. maybe a hint of juniper in the nose too, although its definitely not there in the flavor, subtle sage maybe too, but that could all be in my mind, there is a definite culinary and floral herbaceous quality to this though that cannot be denied. the acid from the fruit is nice, helps it be drier in the finish, and it cleans up the loosely german malt base there too. overall a distinct and easy drinking summer beer that would be a nice add to the regular rotation in here. glad to see their penchant for experimentation is still alive and well after all these years. i absolutely love the bull and bush!
