they call this a pale ale as a base, and im not sure i agree, but im also not sure i care what the base is, the maple profile here is what this beer is all about, it makes it, and i love it, so what we want to call this thing is irrelevant to me, its delicious! amber in color, dark if it is a pale ale, small and short lived head, settling back to mellow looking very quickly. the aroma surprised me big time, there is so much maple here, the good stuff, and not a lot of hops. if the base beer is a pale ale, its perhaps more of an english pale ale, maltier and with less of an aromatic and flavor hoppiness to it, its simple but very well suited to this maple, which really defines the flavor as well. the maple profile is awesome, it pops, its forward, its great with the lighter grain in here, really stands out, and interestingly enough, this isnt that sweet for having so much maple on it, like, i could drink this all night, a very unexpected and appealing feature. resolved in the finish too, it doesnt linger much, and even though the carbonation is a little light, this feels really dialed in from top to bottom. i love bull and bush, no matter how frequently i go in here, they always have something new and innovative and delicious. coming from a huge maple guy, this is a winner!
