they call this pine tree ale, and i think call it a pale ale too, but it has a little red color to it, hence the name. one of the cooler new bull and bush beers i have had in a long time, very piney, all in the finish, but quite complex other than that too, and really a drinkable and interesting brew. a little haze to it, looks almost back lit, soft, pretty from the tap. aroma is malt first, an almost english crystal thing going on, and then the pine, a very fresh and oily sprucy thing in the second half, nice with the sweetness of the grain, the backed character giving way to this crazy herbaceous freshness. the flavor follows a similar trajectory, with the pine all on the back end, even climaxing on my palate after the swallow, natural but strong here, nice with the fuller grain base, a good call on that. its more winter than spring to me, almost has a christmas sort of vibe to it. a flavorful and delicious beer, not overly piney, but distinctively so, and just really good. i love what these guys do, and have appreciated all the new ones lately! this was great with their green chili!
