First, this beer pairs nicely with the Queen Mother burger. Yum.
Pours a dark chestnut with a small 1 finger head. Lacing is minimal, but the color is quite nice.
Ok, so smoke beers like Rauchbiers and that Silverback from Wynkoop have distinct smokiness to them. This one is a bit off. It smells like burnt hay, almost musky, like a zoo. Grassy. Smoke is there, but not forefront.
Still, the taste kind of wears on ya, especially with a good burger. Grassy, hay, musk. Some maltiness, but overall it's light drinking.
