L: Pours a slightly muddy purple brown color with a medium head that dissipates quickly and leaves no lacing on the glass.
S: Caramel and toffee and sweet malt mix with a stronger red wine grape with notes of vinegar and acid and a light note of fig.
T: Strong red wine grapes create the backbone of the taste followed by notes of tartness and vinegar and then some sweet caramel. It's a solid taste.
F: Bigger body, smooth carbonation
O: A very solid beer, it's not my favorite beer brewed with grape but it's definitely decent.

unexpected and amazing, i have been obsessed with grape beers of all persuasions over recent years, but never seen one quite like this. neat to have a belgian dark strong as a base, instead of a saison or wild beer or something more commonly found with these fruits, really neat bottle, and quite reasonably priced at the brewery for what it is, a real treat! they always go under the radar, especially with these special barrel aged bottles. this is brewed with syrah grape must, and then refermented in syrah barrels with syrah grapes and wine yeast, wow! ambitious! pretty almost crayon purple to this, as much color as it is dark beer underneath, looks nice, some fizziness too, this was ready to come out of the bottle. the aroma and flavor are identical, slightly tart up front, tannic from the grapes, woody, slightly boozy, with some plum and prune notes in the sugars here, good red wine and port wine both, black cherry, vanilla, grape candy, i would go so far as to say the grapes in here hit specifically as syrah. there is some sweetness here, but some of that at least seems to be coming from the belgian malts, that caramelized chateau malt thing, along with possibly some added candy sugar for the style. the belgian yeast is behing the wine yeast to me, but both do a lot in here, i like the soft esters, the light tang, and the way they play off each other, i taste them both the whole way. this is light in body for its strength, nicely carbonated too, and i dont mind the warming alcohol finish. impressive beer here, super unique, process intensive, and professionally done. a joy to drink with the boys!
