Antique amber color. This beer becomes more appreciated the more you get acquainted with it. It doesn’t slap you in the face with hops or alcohol on the first sip or two. Rather, its satisfying balance of flavors, along with its ability to be both flavorful and very drinkable, makes this beer universally appealing regardless of mood or situation.

Had on tap at Park Burger RiNo
On arrival a two finger head present that was quickly topped off by the bartender.afyer a few minutes the head recedes to a 5mm cap, so decent retention on this one. The body is mostly clear with a slight chill haze, but aroma is fine and active.
Aroma is a bit light, but reminds me if an amber pilsner despite the ale designation. Some light spicy notes that could be hops, yeast, or both, but there is a definite caramel sweetness coming from the malts. Surprisingly very clean and on the drinkable le but flavorful side of things.
Taste is almost dead onto the aroma but the sweetness seems to be coming from both the amber malts and fermentation. This is super drinkable but has a nice malty aftertaste that I look for in darker beers. Ther is also a Sligh hoppy bitterness as well. Less pilsner like with a higher sweetness and a bit more british yeast fruity sweetness, without being overwhelming, and staying quite balanced.
Feel is not huge, but there is a definite mouthcoating maltiness and a medium long finish. Caramel malts stick around for a while, but still this beer has an overall refreshing feel. It's honestly super versatile.
Overall this beer is very nice balanced amd a great compliment to a burger. Not the hugest ale, but it's still flavorful, and has a bit of nice hop bitterness to balance everything out. Some people might want a bit more out of this beer but I think it's pretty tasty. If you enjoy Fat Tire, or Avalanche Amber Ale give this a shot, and be amazed. This is perfect and just slightly more flavorful for that crowd.

Poured into a Squatters true pint glass a pretty nice cloudy golden amberish color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice two-finger off-white head, which leaves some nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, with a very nice malt note, slightly yeasty. The taste is malty, hoppy, kinda yeasty. Medium body, with a very nice bitter finish. Overall, a pretty tasty brew.

Revisited January 8th, 2024
Pours a medium gold color, clear, appears a dark honey color in the glass; thick, lasting head, white, sculpted and densely creamy in texture. Sweet malt aroma infused with a bit of zesty spiciness; delicate fruity esters. Malt-forward taste; honey-like sweetness in the background; hint of orange marmalade; mild bitterness; somewhat watery. Medium body; soft and velvety.
My impressions have change somewhat about the beer. It's still very drinkable yet seems a bit weak in the taste and mouthfeel departments.

Reviewed bottle data - BTL:6/18/14 with Little Bear Peak 14,037' beneath the bottle cap.
Honey hued body with a thick, foamy, white head; lots of clinging suds left on the glass. Toasted grain aroma. Toasted grain and mildly charred sugars highlight the flavors; honey; slightly tart and acidic with a nice hop bitterness undertone. Medium body; crisp and clean with a dry finish.
Another fine tasting, well-balanced ale from the Bull & Bush brewery.

I guess most people don't go for "boring" ambers any more, because that's the only reason I can think of for why this beer is rated as low as it is. You will enjoy this one all night - a friend called it "happiness in a glass" the first time he tried it.
