a nice stout, bigger than their stonehenge. it pours sludgy and black with a small tan head and no light coming through. it smells kind of similar to the stonehenge, with plenty of coffee notes over a rell roasted malt body. this has something else in the aroma though, maybe oatmeal or oat bread, its definitely an oatmeal stout. flavor confirms what the nose suggests, plenty of sugars from the addition of oats and also a bit of a booze kick. still the flavor is smooth and robust, finishes dry. feel is a little on the heavy side, with a very full body, but it works in the autumn context. probably not a beer you have 3 or 4 of, but a nice cap to a night for sure. overall a bigger, more complex version of the stonehenge, appropriate for the coming cold.

Dark, black and opaque, topped by a tan head with good retention and lacing on the glass. Aromas are of coffee and chocolate.

Taste has big, heavy roasted malt flavors, with more chocolate and coffee components, as in the smell. This is a thick, meaty beer, finishing dry and with aftertastes of toasted grains. The feel is clean and crisp, owing to the lager yeast used.

Overall a fine ale, good for sipping slowly and enjoying the heavy malt and roast flavors.

Thanks to Patio for the use of his mug!
