more of a Belgian red than an American, but I didn't see that as an option. the pours is clear darker amber into a globe with an inch or so of quickly fading khaki colored head. the nose is spicy Belgian yeast and robust Colorado nugget hops. bitter and mildly citrus based. lighter red malt body than the color indicates. the yeast and hops marry well in terms of flavor, with the bitterness and bready peppery yeast playing nicely off one another. the hops take the finish, which is lemony and not as bitter as it smells. not much sweetness but a lot of flavor contributed by the malt. fuller body, maybe a little too full for the style, but I like it in this instance. fine carbonation but not as bright as you might expect a Belgian yeast to make a beer with this much fermentable sugar. overall a nice new brew from bull and bush, well hidden abv, two of these is the right number. three is too many to drive. enjoyed it most at room temperature.
