Color is striking and quite lovely, best described as a Burgundy blush on the dark amber brew. Handsome and persistent foam in the Stella goblet. Pleasantly spritzy on the tongue. Not much aroma, but a woody and oddly fruity nose.
The overall beetification is not so strong, but there is an intriguing and totally unique flavor here. Just enough sweetness. Fruity and funky. The most recognizable beet contribution is that sweet, almost sugary taste with the warm carroty flavor. Some of the Tripel taste comes through after you sip awhile. The Belgian yeast is distinct and provides the usual drying effect along with some pleasant funk.
This has some deep richness that is very satisfying. From the 500 ml bottle purchased at Mayfair Liquors in Denver.

Well, an interesting beer, that's for sure.
Pours a brilliant garnet red, clean and clear. Off pink foamy head. I'm not sure why this is listed as a tripel. Sure doesn't look like one.
Nor does is smell like one. Rather tame for the style, and overall. Slight vegetal undertones, a bit beety. Some underlying notes of biscuit....some.
Flavor isn't bad, but sure not tripel-ish. Beets give it some flavor, but mostly it's a bit earthy with hints of spice. A bit tart, but more tannin like than anything. Couldn't tell you if turnips were present...never had them.
Overall this is a non-offensive beer. I hate beets, but this beer is not nearly as bad as those demon seeds. Not quite sure what to pair with this. Possible a salad with vinaigrette

From a 500 ml bottle (bottled August 28, 2013) into a tulip glass.
A-A normal pour produces about one finger of light pink (nearly white) foam. The brew is light violet/dark pink in color. There is a slight haze that obscures my view and a stray bubble of carbonation.
S-The earthy beet scents are noticeable, but not obvious. I do not detect much in the way of turnip. There is a slight grassy note; warming, solvent-scented alcohol; and a doughy base. Pleasing, but not spectacular.
T-The beets again come through in mild fashion with their earthy flavor. There is also a lightly bitter grassy note and bready/doughy flavors, but no real turnip zest or spice, which is sort-of a let-down. The brew is on the drier side for a tripel with a bit of orange zest in the alcohol.
M-The feel is very soft, with light carbonation and moderate heft.
O-I liked this beer a lot more when I had it on tap. The turnips were more assertive in the tap version, which provided a balance to the dull, earthy flavor from the beets. Nevertheless, this is not a bad brew and it has some unique and redeeming qualities. The looks, in particular, are intriguing. I guess I'll save it for brewery visits.

Pint bottle $9.99. Apparently this is aged in Chardonnay barrels. Color was sort of amber. ok head. Aroma was fruity and I liked it. The flavor was sort of vegetal and plastic with fruit notes. I did not like the flavor at all and the price point would be great for a barrel aged beer if this were good. Disappointing.

Nice lasting rose tinted soapy head. No lacing. Brew is deep dark pink with nice clarity.
Heavy malt and Belgian yeast, minus the false banana.
Dry, earthy, nicely malted. Funky-fresh flavors. Beets are not a trun-off, in fact, they're a Turni(u)p. Nicely floral and Belgiany dry. Carbonation is spot on at medium-high. Sweetness is non-existent, yet drinkability is high.
Recommended for a one-off try. Not a great brew, but not a bad one either. Should be tried at $7. A well done take for a unique triple.

im shocked this isn't already listed, being one of the most sought after and decorated bull and bush brews. I know ive been dying to try it for a couple years now and its never around. was please to see it finally, and was impressed with its first impression, a pink tinted creamy clear globe, with a big and permanent whipped topping. the nose is decidedly vegetative, beets for sure, just like in my juicer, but the turnips are more subtle. Belgian yeast and candy sugar, and herbal quality, and a touch of warming booze. the flavor is also more beet than turnip, I don't get much of that punchy mineral heavy starchy bite, but I do get the soil and nutrition of the beets all the way. Belgian yeast works good here, a little bready and a little sweet, with an outside sort of honey pollen sweetness. carbonation is epic, super bright, and the finish is clean as day. id be happy to session this all night, although id be lose after three of them. this is a work of art, a lovely fusion of special creativity and masterful execution. hurry in while this is still around, its the reason I love bull and bush, everything they stand for in one fine pour.
