so we have updated beer styles here on BA and we still do not have a generic american kettle sour category?! ludicrous! in any event, this is probably the best of the three beers i had here at rusty truck, which isnt saying a ton, but this one is pretty good. its only mildly tart, the strawberry tastes authentic to me, and its got enough grain in it to keep it drinking like a beer, which i always want in something like this. its murky from the tap, a short white head on it but not a long retention, just a pink hue through the pale orange, some wheat likely in here. aroma and flavor show a pretty clean lactic souring, somewhat conservative in terms of acid development, but i think thats nice for drinkability and for potentially turning some folks on to sour beer for the first time, as we did with some family members when we were here, its very approachable in that way, especially with some sweetness from the strawberries and a little clean citrus character behind it. there is something slightly addicting about this, like for it being a little raw and technically imperfect, its quite tasty, good mix of flavors, i like the malt coming through, and i think it works for the summer. definitely a little inconsistent in terms of quality here, but this one stood out above the others to most in our group.
