A dark brown pour with some ruby highlights. A very small head and little lacing. Looks thin, but a very pretty color.
The aroma is all coffee. There's a touch of melting chocolate here as well, but the coffee aroma is everywhere. This being a coffee-infused porter, I'm happy with this.
A simple and uncomplicated flavor profile of coffee, some chocolate, sweetness, and a hint of bitterness. I thought this one would open up and become more interesting as it warmed but it really doesn't. It's dominated by (good tasting) coffee from start to finish, yet this keeps the beer relatively one-note and simple.
An appropriate, pleasant medium to thin body.
A well done and enjoyable simple coffee beer, but little else.

First off, I love coffee, and I love coffee based porters and stouts. On the onset, this beer was underwhelming. It poured like black water would look and barely produced a head at all. I figured I'd try this pint and if it was bad, I'd ask for a sample out of a fresh keg.
The taste was reminiscent of 2 day old Folgers grinds, mixed with soda water. Not joking, it was gross. The color black, the taste was semi carbonated and the coffee was too powerful. No balance whatsoever.
I had them pour another sampler, and it was unfortunately the same. Will not be drinking this beer again.

On-tap at Taps (Brea)
A: The pour is very dark brown in color with some amber notes and a creamy khaki colored head.
S: Coffee, coffee, and more coffee. Maybe some coffee grounds in there and just a hint of mocha/dark chocolate. Certainly one-dimensional, but good if you like coffee.
T: More of the same as I take the first sip. Even as I drink more, there really isn't much going on here except for the coffee. Strong, fresh brewed coffee flavor with just a hint of sweetness and chocolate.
M: The body is medium and carbonation is medium as well. Fairly smooth on the tongue.
D: You have to be a coffee lover to like this beer. I don't really like coffee, but like coffee beers for whatever reason and this really was nice.
