"Serendiptiy is a wonderful thing. Although we originally intended to brew an English Brown Ale, due to a yeast mix-up, we ended up with this beautiful Belgian Brown Ale. Light to medium-bodied, a bit fruity, with a hint of fig and a nice, La Chouffe yeast spicy finish. Embrace your inner Bouffon!"

On Tap
Taps Fish House & Brewery
Brea, CA
**The beer menu at Taps described this is as a brown ale accidentally brewed with Belgian style yeast**
Dark brown with honey golden edges. Thin tan head. Regular and consistent lacing down the glass.
Bready and caramel malt sweetness mixed with a tangy, sharp Belgian yeast character and a touch of spice. Interesting combination.
The flavor is just a touch more muddled than the aroma, though still above average. Caramel malts and Belgian yeast combine for a pleasant enough drinking experience.
Medium mouthfeel. Good for any brown ale.
An interesting experiment (or in this case, accident?) and a decent beer to boot.

On-tap at Taps (Brea)
A: This one pours light brown in color with a finger or two of off-white head.
S: Definitely get the Belgian yeast coming through. Lots of spice notes such as clove and white pepper. There's a nice toasted bread aroma and some sweet caramel and brown sugar to it, too.
T: The flavor is only okay. Some malty character to it, and a bit of brown sugar sweetness. A moderate yeastiness and a bit of spice and fruit. There's also a noticeable acidity to the beer.
M: Medium in body with a medium to high level of carbonation.
O: I was hoping for a bit more on this, but it was an accident, so I guess I can't complain too much.
