On nitro tap for The Bruery Sucreversary held at The Phoenix Club in Anaheim, CA.
Pours a murky dark brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Tiny dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, coffee bean, brewed coffee, and cocoa aromas. Taste is much the same with sweet cocoa and coffee flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and smooth mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with a nice balance of cocoa and coffee characteristics.

On-tap at Taps
Nearly black in color with a finger of mocha colored head. Heavy on the coffee. Very heavy, in fact. Tons of espresso-type character with some roasted malt and dark chocolate. A touch of vanilla/lactose in there, too. The flavor features overwhelming amounts of coffee (which is a good thing). Semi-sweet chocolate with lots of roasted character to it, too. A slight sweetness to go along with all the coffee. Another well done coffee beer from Taps.

Growler thanks to yourefragile. Not a very good beer unfortunately. not as horrible as Thorpe thought so but it is just another coffee stout.
Beer is black with a thin lazy tan head, moderate to low carbonation, no lacing, looks fine.
Aroma is roasty, coffee, there is an odd off aroma though, diacetyl or something. Diacetyl doesn't make sense necessarily but there is something off.
Beer is medium to light in body, 100% on the backend. Almost nothing up front, eh...lots of coffee, OK finish but not a repeat for me.

Growler courtesy of yourefragile the other night. Served in a Mikasa tulip.
Pours a fairly-dark brown with a small off-white head that falls quickly, leaving just a few dots of lacing behind.
The nose doesn't start in the best place, as well there is some nice caramel and roast with a touch of chocolate, there's also a good dose of diacetyl in the background. Flavor confirms this, as buttered popcorn takes a seat right next to roasted malt and chocolate. Someone's the third wheel.
Body is medium with a creamy feel and light carbonation. Too much diacetyl eating this one up. Even behind that, I didn't get much of the mocha. Oh well.
