500ml bottle, best before dated a bit out 31/03/14
Orangey brown Hefe like colour, THICK 1" head with pretty good retention.
Earthy Maris otter background, possibly a very slight Belgian-like yeast note, pepper, sugary, blood orange flesh, slight pith. Not that big, perhaps not helped by being past BB date.
Floral and fruity flavours, orange and grapefruit flesh, orange pith, yeast spice, crispbreads, wheat. Well judged alch. presence. Some tang in the initial finish, and a lasting drying finish. Medium body and light-medium carbonation.
I've put it down as a Belgian IPA. It fits more with those characteristics than an English (hop profile, Belgian-like flavours) and American IPA (malt character, again Belgian-like flavours). I'd have to ask them. Not perfect, I don't think the age here helps though, still a respectable take.
