got this form the cask at reading beer festival.
i wanted this cuz ie never had a barley wine,
it was suprisly nice , and drinkable, very happy and freindly beer, it wasnt ver winey as i expected it to be(partly because of the name, partly because of the alc content)
pours frothy and orange and lost of tiny specs of yeast shoot throught your glass, leaving a dark orange cloudy beer.
smells of sweet spices and vanilla.
nice hops balance with the aclohol sweet a little wild berry type swwet malt.
goes down easy. and very satisfying.

On cask dispense at the Cask, Pimlico, Feb '12.
Collaboration brew between Arbor and Art Brew, brewed at the Arbor brewery. Barley wine heavily hopped with Nelson Sauvin.
Dispensed into a UK half pint glass to a copper/dark amber colour with a thin white head.
On the nose you get a big alcohol whiff straight away! Also a floral hop aroma and some dried fruits and general sweet smells coming off.
On the palate, sweet malts, hops, dried/dark berry fruits and a fairly strong alcohol flavour on the finish with a warming aftertaste as it passes down the gullet!
Mouthfeel - a medium bodied beer but surprisingly on the thin side and free flowing for a 12% barley wine. No stickyness or treacle at all!
Overall - for a 12% cask offering this was a good effort and very well balanced. Mouthfeel was good - not too treacley or sticky, quite thin really ! I don't think I'll be revisiting it as it was a little too much alcohol in the taste, but I've had a few 10% + cask ales in the UK (Aston Manor - High Gravity at the Aston University '94 fest anyone!!!), and this was by far the best!
NOTE - I am taking an educated guess that this is 'Limited (brewed once)'.
