Gravity halfpint at the Euston Tap.
A: Clear bright gold body topped by a thin layer of fine, steady white head. Ok retention solid lace. Frothy.
S: A bit of breadiness is there, but the Columbus dominates: pollen-coated pine needles, tangerine, and a bit of leek. The last of these isn't great, but overall it's a pleasant aroma.
T: Sadly, the onion/leek flavors are stronger here, drowning out the other hop notes. The malt does assert itself more midway through, but the hops return with big bitterness and moderate spice on the finish. Interesting, but not a great result with this hop.
M: Soft, creamy, lightly carbonated.
O: Columbus is one of my favorite hops when it's at its best, but it can definitely be finicky - especially when isolated like this.
Cheers!
