A 500ml bottle with a BB of Nov 2012. Purchased recently from my local beer specialist. The label mentions that this is an addition to their single hop pale ales, but in a stronger IPA format. Bottle conditioned.
Poured into a tulip pint glass. A very hazy golden-amber with low carbonation and plentiful fine sediment. Forms a small head of frothy white foam that lasts for a minute or so before dissipating. Aroma of intense fruity aromatic hops - notes of tropical fruit and citrus dominate, along with a green 'plant-like' note and subtle hints of malt and yeast.
Tastes of overwhelming aromatic hops with a tingly bitterness. Tons of fruity notes: tropical fruit and citrus abound. Earthy yeast lingers in the background, along with subtle malt and a prolonged bitter finish. A faint hint of chlorophyll/plant in the flavour. Mouthfeel is smooth, spicy and dry, with good body. Tingly but a tad flat. Rather astringent. Aftertaste of fruity aromatic hops.
Very nice - more hops than Kent! If you love the tropical/citrus fruit notes then this is probably for you. The only minor downsides are the lack of carbonation and the hint of 'plant' in the aroma/flavour. Still, a solid American IPA with tons of character. Well worth trying.
