A 330ml bottle with a BB of May 2013. Acquired from my local beer specialist. The label states that this is a one-off brew made for CAMRGB's 'down DIPA' night. A variety of Australian and NZ hops were added to the brew.

Poured into a Delirium chalice. A hazy golden-amber hue with plenty of chunky sediment. Virtually no carbonation visible. Yields a miniscule head of white foam that lasts for a few minutes before dissipating. Aroma of exceptionally fruity hops - notes of strawberries(!), melon, white grapes, subtle citrus and tropical fruit. A veritable fruit salad. Hints of earthy yeast and a whiff of alcohol in the background.

Tastes of intensely fruity aromatic hops with a dry finish. Notes of strawberries, white grapes, melon, mild citrus and hints of tropical fruit. The aromatic hops have a surreal 'juicy' quality. A subtle underlying flavour of caramel malt with earthy yeast and a twinge of booze. Not especially bitter, but extremely dry upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth and full-bodied, but totally flat. Highly astringent - leaves the palate parched. Aftertaste of overwhelming fruity aromatic hops.

A passionate if imperfect effort. Tons of new world hops, resulting in a fascinating fruit sensation (particularly the strawberry aroma). The malt certainly took a back seat but stood up well enough to the hops. The major flaw is the lack of carbonation - not sure what happened there. Perhaps the cap took a knock? The flavour didn't seem oxidised and the yeast should have continued to ferment in bottle. Oh well, aside from that it was impressive - hats off. Grab one if you see it, though I don't know how much longer it'll be around.
