A 500ml bottle with a BB of May 2013. Picked up from Trembling Madness in York a little while back. Described on the label as a single-hop brew involving hop variety Wakatu, giving mild citrus and floral notes.
Poured into a straight pint glass. Bottle conditioned. A hazy golden hue with fine sediment and light carbonation. Produces a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before reducing to a surface layer. Some lacing. Aroma of light malt with hints of grass, noble hops, mild floral notes, earthy yeast, faint grain and stewed hops.
Tastes of light malt and noble hops with a distinctly bitter finish. Notes of peppery noble hops, grass/hay, floral hints, faint citrus, earthy yeast and stewed hops. Very dry, with a strident bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, dry and mildly tingly, with good body. Carbonation could be livelier. Somewhat astringent, with an aftertaste of bitter stewed hops, grass and earthiness.
Not bad, though it doesn't blow you away like some Arbor beers do. Looks alright, and the aroma/flavour are pleasant if not exceptional. Could benefit from improved carbonation. Wakatu hops strike me as relatively restrained, which perhaps isn't surprising given that they are bred from a noble variety. A decent brew that is worth sampling if you come across it.

Pours a hazy golden/yellow colour with a decent white head.
Smells very fresh and hoppy - flowery, slight fruits.
Tastes at first (straight out of the fridge) quite harsh with very unbalanced citrus flavours, yet as it gets to room temperature it starts to get slightly more malty - light, biscuity malts, and more fruity and flowery, reflecting the smell.
Overall a decent pale ale but i've had better, certainly from this brewery.

Overall a decent pale ale but i've had better, certainly from this brewery.
