Pours black with a large lasting light tan head.
Nose shows roasted barley, cocoa, soft roasted coffee, a little bready malt. Appetizing.
Lovely roasted barley as a flavour, with toasty notes too. Sweetens up a little later on but theres also a faint acidity, presumably from the roasted grains
Carbonation is too aggressive.

Coming in a 500ml brown bottle, bottle-conditioned; BB 31/05/2014, served lightly-chilled in a straight imperial pint glass. Notes: the back label describes it as “velvety smooth oatmeal stout, brewed with nine different grains and fresh oysters, with bittersweet notes of coffee, chocolate and roasted malts”.
A: pitch black in colour, poured with a creamy khaki froth on top of relatively quiet carbonation.
S: the smell comes intensely roasty malty and coffee-ish with a light addition of sour dark fruits; given a good swirl, the robust edge of burned nuts come to the fore, rendering a fairly deep aroma all in all.
T: light-bodied and fairly quiet on the carbonation on the entry, the taste is immediately roasty and lightly smoky as well, backed by a superb depth of bitterness and a sound, black prune-ish fruity acidity; smooth flavour elements of bitter chocolates and a considerable level of herbal bitterness ensue quickly, leading towards a lightly warming finish which comes also with a faintly chewy mouthfeel on the balance.
M&O: a bit too soft on the carbonation, considering this is a bottle-conditioned beer, but then it doesn’t discredit the beer quality which is supposed to be smooth by design, thanks to both oatmeal and fresh oysters applied. All in all this light-bodied oatmeal stout is an easy drinking and fairy balanced example, although inexperienced as I am the impact of oysters is only imaginable after my palates come to agree that this oatmeal stout tastes rather… smooth.

Smells quite rich and chocolately.
Tastes quite weak, with a dry taste and a thin, overcarbonated texture making it hard to pick out any flavours.
A decent dry stout but I think this will be much better on cask.
