Very happy to see an Israeli take on this classic style on the shelf at Tov Taam. Poured into a rocks glass revealing a beautiful dark orange-amber color and 1/2 inch head. Lacing clings responsibly to the sides of the glass.
The nose has a lot going: notes of caramel malt, candied sugar, orange liqueur, and pleasant phenols show much promise. The taste starts as a caramel/butterscotch (in a good way) candy and shifts towards phenolic towards the end, which means the lingering finish is weighted on the phenolic end which may not appeal to everyone.
I certainly enjoyed this beer and appreciate Pavo jumping into the adult end of the pool with this entry- the summer sipper end is getting too crowded with Israeli Pils and Hefs.
Mouthfeel is decent enough, creamy and full, maybe I would have liked a tad more effervescence. I'd purchase this one again on a rainy winter day.
