Big floral and tropical aromas set up this delightfully balanced white IPA. Soft yet slightly tart wheat and lightly toasted malts are complemented by the gentle bitterness of the hops. Our brewers use late hop additions and dry hopping in the brewing process to give this IPA its big hop nose without an overwhelmingly bitter taste. This brew is love at first smell. Cheers!

Dirty, golden color. Big , white head. Dank hops, tropical fruits, and wheat malt. Balanced, juicy taste with moderate bitterness. Untraceable alcohol. Good beer, doesn't stand out, though.

Pours a mostly clear golden color. A thumbnail length foam head retains well.
The nose displays notes of pitted, tropical and citrus fruit, as well as floral, grassy and earthy spices. Aromas of peach, pear, melon, papaya, orange, cracker malt, grass and pine.
Taste opens sweet with a firm malt backbone with notes of cracker, wheat and lightly toasted bread. Balanced by a gentle bitterness that is slightly resiny, piney and grassy. Notes of grapefruit, orange, peach, pear and subtle flavors of tropical fruit.
Medium to full bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. The finish is smooth, slightly dry and gently resiny. Carbonation is moderate to gentle.
It's easy drinking for a DIPA. Not my favorite from the Bronx Brewery, as I feel the hops flavors do not really shine compared to their other IPAs. Nevertheless, it's pretty decent overall.

12oz can.
L: Hazy, dark orange with one finger of quick-fire head and some spotty lacing.
S: Heavy, overripe tropical fruit.
T: Juicy tangerine and orange flavours with a heavy, resinous backdrop. Orange marmalade in liquid form.
F: Medium body with a mouthfeel that becomes cloying and a tongue-drying finish.
O: A big and bold, hazy, juicy DIPA. Too bitter and too resinous for a New England but not a classic West Coast either. Alcohol appears as the beer warms. Too much for me.

Look - pint can poured into an IPA glass. Clear, generous three finger head, with the best lacing retention that I've seen in a beer. Pretty damn near perfect on the look.
Smell - a lot of citrus and a little bit of everything else. tropical fruits, some pine, and good malt presence.
Taste - juicy but malty. the beer packs quite a punch on the intense hoppy flavor, but is smoothed out by the strong malt presence. finish is long with plenty of lingering malts and just a bit of pine resin bitterness.
Feel - medium bodied, average carbonation, and a heavy hitter at 8.1% ABV, though alcohol is somewhat masked.
Overall - for me, this beer was love at first sight. it was *this* close to being the perfect looking beer for me. overall, a strong brew with plenty of complexity in flavor without sacrificing drinkability. an excellent brew.

poured into a tulip/snifter style glass. Bright yellowish pour.
L: 3.75 opaque light orange with a medium sized white head and evident carbonation.
S: 4. Citrusy fruit. Viney hops. Light on malt. Pretty fresh.
T: 4. Bright hops. Sweet fruit. Not sure if this isn't a NE IPA.
F: 4.5 phenomenal. Not heavy. Medium to light mouthfeel. Very dangerous at 8/1% ABV
O: 4.25 Great IPA. As I mentioned I think its more of a Double NEIPA than a classic West Coast style Imperial IPA.

A thanks to the reigning champion of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a cloudy, dark golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of citrus, light pine. Taste is of citrus, melons, a dank aftertaste, mild bitterness for the style. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer.

From a mix pack 12 oz can poured into a pint glass. Pours a murky dark yellow, somewhere right in the middle of clear and opaque. About a quarter inch of white head. Mild retention and lacing. Smell is of oranges and pineapple with hints of floral. Taste. Taste. Taste. Well, I'm picking up sweet tarts here which is a new one for me. Maybe some floral juiciness in the background. A little dry in the mouth on the finish-bitter tartness detected. Overall, this is a heck of an interesting tasting brew. Not totally my thing, but really interesting.

Happy New CANming Straight Outta The Bronx This Sunday, yo (Week 768)! I have several CANs from Bronx Brewery & I am dedicating today to him as a fellow veteran, CANtinuing with this one. It makes The CANQuest (tm) proud to be able to do this sort of thing!
From the CAN: "Grit*Drive*Union"; "Est. 2011"; "No Nonsense Ales"; "India Pale Ale"; "Big floral, tropical aromas set up this explosive IPA. This is one of the more explosive IPA’s we’ve ever brewed so it was no surprise when our brewers described it as the Boom Boom when it came off the line. It’s got a heavy hop aroma with a slightly tart, gentle bitter taste. The big hop aroma and 8.1% ABV makes this brew go Boom Boom."; "Made By a Team". Hop Bill: Pacific Gem, Citra; Grain Bill: Briess 2-row Brewers Malt, Briess White Wheat Malt, Wayermann Acidulated Malt.
The name put me in mind of Freddie "Boom-Boom" Washington from "Welcome Back, Kotter", but it was set at James Buchanan HS in Bensonhurst (Brooklyn, NOT the Bronx). 8=(
Man, I am SO digging these guys & their beers on Veterans' Day Eve that I wish that a) I had gotten an earlier start & b) I had more of them for review! I beCAN this one with a Crack! of the vent followed by a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass. It quickly formed two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, bone-white head with excellent retention. Color was a stunning Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7) with NE-quality clarity, prompting an impromptu visit from The Gelt Gang of Mammon, Midas & Croesus. Nose was an odd little duck - a very floral, citrusy hoppy quality offset by just a mild tropical fruitiness. Hmm. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, not quite creamy, but on the approach. The taste remained oddly bitter & sweet, lots of grapefruit, some pine, all followed by a wash of tropical fruit. I did not get a tartness on the finish, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. This was an imprecise example of what I am looking for in current AIPAs - a mixture of West Coast & Southern Hemisphere hops, but it just did not strike the balance that I want. Finish was semi-dry as a result & that gets to the core of it - I want a greater bitterness, only slightly offset by tropical fruit. YMMV.

I've had this before, but never this fresh. Canned two weeks ago. Gold color, soft white head which leaves a good lacing as I drink it from my pint glass. Nose is hoppy, white bread crust, pale malts, citrus. Taste is sweet. Very sweet but balanced by the hops. I wasn't getting that same sweetness in the nose. Also getting some pine and a sweet lemon drop/orange candy type note. Mouthfeel is medium and there is no alcohol at all, in the nose and in the taste. Finishes a little on the slick side.I would've prefered some more dryness and bitterness. Definitely would've liked a bit more bitterness on the finish.. One of the better NYC brewed DIPA's I've had. No where near the best I've had, but it's a well made beer.
