Nice hazy amber with a strong retaining head, nice strong smell of citrusy hops, the first hit of orange with a good balance of bitterness is outstanding, lightly carbonated and thick feeling

$3.79 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ
Notes via stream of consciousness: Nice name! Surprisingly dark in color, it's a hazy deep orange beneath a rocky head of yellowed khaki colored froth. The aroma is citrusy with a mineralish side that recalls citrus pith. I'd same it's mainly orange and apricot but there's a little more there as well. The malt comes through as well, biscuity, and perhaps even a little toasty. The flavor not surprisingly follows, and there's lots of orange and apricot. Any other fruit notes that I thought I might have been smelling seem to either not exist, or are covered up by the orange and apricot. The biscuity and seemingly lightly toasty malt remains, lightly sweet, and a firm bitterness balances it and brings it to a dry conclusion with some moderate residual malt and orange and apricot lingering. Looking back, the head remains a solid creamy surface covering and there's some very nice lacing left behind. In the mouth it's medium and perhaps even medium-full. The carbonation is fine-bubbled and crisp helping to balance some of the sweet malt. How strong is this? 8.56%... it never really shows, there's some "strength" yes, and a very light wash in the end, but the malt seems to keep it pretty well hidden. Overall it's pretty impressive, and it's certainly unique. Quite enjoyable and well worth trying.

Look - poured from a 12 oz can. dark yellow in color, opaque, and a beautiful three finger head that lasted for minutes, virtually all retained. This is a nearly perfect beer in looks alone.
Smell - faint citrus smell and similar hops, but actually very light. I don't get much else on the nose.
Taste - citrus forward with plenty of hop flavor, all on the tropical/citrus side. Alcohol warmness is detectable.
Feel - for a citrus heavy IPA, this is actually quite a robust beer. medium to full-bodied, medium carbonation, and definitely a heavy hitter at 8.6% ABV.
Overall - this beer excels in looks, does average on the smell, and is above average on taste. a really interesting double IPA that does not mask the hoppiness, resulting in a strong brew both in taste and ABV. "holy mother" is absolutely right.

Pours an opaque brownish straw color with a finger of head. The nose is dominated by the essence of overripe citrus fruits. The flavor follows with bright tropical and citrus notes. The hoppiness is potent and on point for a quality DIPA.
I don't get the low ratings for this offering. This is a real gem from a brewery I not heard of before.

Picked up at Wholefoods in NYC. 12 oz can poured in to tulip. SOC...Love the color, true orange, very murky...following theme it is definitely "pulpy". Frothy white head that settles into a cap all the way down with some nice lacing. The name don't lie. Nose is sharp citrus, taste follows in kind, pithy orange bitterness jumps on you immediately. As it warms up, pick up some sweet malt to help balance it out. It is really in your face citrus with a sharp entry and astringent finish. The middle got more complex as I let it warm. The alcohol also hides well behind the pungency. It is a niche "beer", almost feels like it should be another category of drink, but I enjoyed it. They pushed the envelope.
