Poured from a 16 oz can bought in NYC and poured into a tulip glass.
Medium brown beer is cloudy in the glass, but with strong, long-lasting, off-white head. Aromas were very faint at first, but grew more prominent as it warmed. I get some faint cinnamon and other spices, along with light, bready malt and a stronger woody note. Flavors are malt-heavy, with bread, gingerbread and brown sugar. On top of those are strong spice notes; maybe cinnamon and nutmeg among others. There is also a fairly sharp, metal-like astringency in the finish. Medium to heavy body and moderate to full, creamy carbonation. Medium bitterness from hops or spices, or both. Alcohol well-hidden.
This is an OK holiday ale. The amburana wood does show through with an interesting note that is different than oak. I enjoyed it more an more as it warmed, but I thought it would be better with a little less astringency from the hops or spices.

Look - 12 oz can poured into a tulip glass. dark copper in color, appears to be clear (but too dark to tell exactly). one finger head with excellent retention and lacing.
Smell - roasted malts with a caramel sweetness. light spices and some vanilla as well, likely from the Amburana. overally very pleasant.
Taste - mostly roasted malts on the initial taste, similar to a red ale. some subtle wood and faint sweetness towards the finish, which is mellow and smooth.
Feel - medium bodied, below average carbonation, and moderate on the booze at 6.1% ABV.
Overall - it doesn't quite stand out as a Christmas ale, but it is a tasty malt forward ale with a delicate touch of subtle undertones. really tasty.

This was pretty good. Looked like a low ABV Porter. Nose was malty, cloves, hoppy. Maybe some pumpkin spice and cinnamon?? Taste follows the nose. Medium mouth feel. Semi dry in the finish. This is a good Winter Warmer.

A great job at creating a warm, tasty "Christmas Ale" without going over the top, which tends to happen a lot. Basic complexity, if there is such a thing.

Look: Very dark brown. Slightly more than two fingers of foamy tan head that quickly dissipates.
Smell: Spicy and fruity off the bat. Anise and licorice.
Taste: Like the nose, spicy with heavy anise and licorice notes. Subdued roast malt flavor. Little to no bitterness or hop flavor.
Mouthfeel: Full body with good carbonation.
Overall: An excellent winter warmer without too high of an alcohol content.

Beautiful burgundy and mahogany colored body; nice one-finger thick head; thick and frothy. Excellent spicy and malty aroma; anise and licorice; peppermint. The taste flows along the lines of the smell; holiday bread treat with spicy overtones. Heavy body; semi-sweet yet has a bit of airy dryness.
The is a very well done holiday ale, nicely balancing the base malt with some tastefully presented holiday spices. It's not overly heavy in body, not overly sweet or treacly, just nicely complex and approachable.
