Pours a solidly black color. A large foam tan head shows really good retention. The lacing is plentiful and creamy.
The nose evokes dark toasted malts with subtle notes of cherry. Aromas of biscuit, dark chocolate, and lightly roasted malts. There is a hint of grassy and earthy hops.
In the taste, robust dark toasted malts with notes of nutty and lightly roasted malts are well integrated into the clean and crisp lager spices. Notes of dark chocolate, biscuit and caramel are balanced by a clean bitterness, as well as woodsy and earthy hops flavors. The subtle tart cherry addition pairs well with the light acidity of the black malts.
Medium bodied with a crisp yet mouth coating feel. The finish is crisp with notes of cherries. The carbonation is moderate.
Solid Schwarzbier, very tasty. The sour cherries add a nice touch.
