This fresh and fruity IPA derives its name from the nickname of astronaut Gus Grissom, who earned his wings at our home, Fort Ben. Piquant and delicious, this beer is flavored with green pepper, chipotles & jalapeƱos during the conditioning process. With subtle spice and sweetness, it is a delight for the taste buds!

Appearance: Deep clear amber, with a thick head of off-white suds. Little skirt of lace on my glass.
Aroma: Citrus and tropical hops, with a little trace element of pepper. Different but not bad.
Taste: Nicely hoppy and mild up front, followed by a definite peppery heat from the chipotle, japapeno, and green peppers included in this creative IPA. Enjoyable and a fun take on the IPA style.

Pours a dark reddish orange, lasting surface coverage and coating drippy lace.
Good clarity and rising trails of carbonation.
Aroma has earthy and sweet peppery notes, and bready sweet malt notes. Not much in the way of hops anymore.
Taste delivers on the pepper front, sweet and green, prickly heat that is only light to moderate, though it's noticed soon after in the throat. Base beer is a little simple, bready caramel malt, multigrain bread crusts. Lingering heat and hop bitterness in the aftertaste. Medium bodied, light carbonation. Overall it's ok, but I probably wouldn't get it again.
