500 ml bottle conditioned, as Hunter's Devon Dreamer Amber Bitter, from Gulating Ølutsalg, Stavanger. ABV is 4.1%. Boadicea hops are used, also Goldings and Citra. Auburn colour, moderate off-white head. Moderate aroma, notes of malts with hints of toffee and earthy hops. Malty and fruity flavour with notes of dark berries and brown bread. Moderate bitterness, a little more would not hurt.

Appearance - Dirty amber colouration with a skinny lace head and scanty CO2.
Smell - Toffee and grainy malt aroma which is a bit plain for one of the breweries I have come to expect a lot of. (I will have to try this on tap ASAP and see if it improves)
Taste - Improved on the aroma this one tastes of toffee malts, grains, mild citrus such as orange and satsuma. The whole thing has good flavour but it is all very much towards the grainy end of things and as such is not what i expect from Hunters.
MF - Quite thin even for the Hunter's beers. Light linger and not much else.
Overall - For a Hunter's beer this one is not that good but it is still a lot better than many beers you will come across. The flavour profile is decent enough even good but it is all let done by other elements that are not up to the breweries standard.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of Dec 2014. Purchased ages ago from Sainsbury's as part of the 2013 Beer Hunt and stored in a cupboard. Described as a summer ale hopped with Goldings and Citra.
A: Poured into a straight pint glass. Bottle conditioned. A deep, hazy amber hue with fine sediment and good carbonation. Yields a large head of creamy white foam that hangs around for a few minutes before settling as a patchy surface layer.
S: Aroma of grainy malt with hints of fruity ale yeast, grass/hay, husks, faint stewed leaves and a whisper of sourness. Decent if not outstanding.
T: Tastes of grainy malt with a mild, dry finish. Notes of grass/hay, fruity ale yeast, husks and mild stewed leaves. Well-attenuated, followed by a subtle, leafy bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with pleasant carbonation and good body. Slightly astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of yeast esters, husky grain and mild stewed leaves.
O: A decent ale with an uncomplicated character. Looks good, while the aroma and flavour are a pretty staid combination of grain, ale yeast and mild leafy hops. Nice body. Could perhaps be a tad more bitter, but goes down just fine. Worth sampling if you come across it.
