Appearance - Beautiful deep tea like colouration similar to a mild brew of Assam or an strong Ceylon. The beer supports only a small head of rocky foam that becomes a ring of lace and leaves some sticky elements behind.
Smell - Amazing toffee and cherry aroma from the malts with some mild prune and a tiny yeast presence that gives rise to some sweet bakery aromas.
Taste - Simply divine with fruit galore; plum, raisin, prune and cherry combined with great toffee and yummy biscuit and all in perfect harmony. There is a little hop nip in there to keep the balance and just when you think it is done they hit you with the banana and spice. Well done!
Moth Feel - A thicker creamier mouth feel than many of their other beers. this beer has a very smooth mouth feel like a liquid satin feel and a wonder drying/cloying balance in the finish.
Overall - As always from hunters this is a very drinkable beer and a delight to sip on. It goes well with game meat and strong cheddar. As with many Hunters beer though the appearance is a bit of a let down on bottle but the taste, smell and mouth feel more than make up for that. so never judge a book, or a beer!!!
