Prösselbräu is one of my favourite breweries ever. Located about 10 minutes driving down B 8 from my house the brewery resides on top of a hill in the hallowed halls of an secularized dominican monastery. The beergarden there in the monastery yard is stellar and on warm summer days it might be hard to get a seat. The place is well known in Regensburg and throughout and has a very good reputation.
They brew Hell, Weizen, Dunkel and the Palmator, a seasonal Bock. The opening of the first kegs of Bock every Palmsonntag (I don't know the english term... It's the sunday before Easter Sunday) is a big festivity with thousands of people attending. The City of Regensburg has special busses going out to Prösselbräu so people can drink and have a safe ride home using public transportation.
They don't have a huge menue there but they have a changing daily menue of warm dishes (about 20 different) and of course the traditional bavarian beergarden snacks like "Obatzter" (bavarian cheese delicacy), Brezen, Bratwurst, etcetc. I have never gone hungry from the place.
