The Sunset Red may have been my fav from Olde Peninsula. The beer poured a clear amber with white head that left a spotty lace. The scent and taste were common for most ambers. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with subtle carbonation. Overall it was sessionable and drinkable.

A friend told me about this beer, it was described as an excellent red ale that is very true to style. I am in complete agreement after hoisting a pint of it today. The color was a definite reddish brown. The flavor was great, it was a nice mix of caramel and light hops. It was not bitter at all, but not too sweet either. It is very good with food. This beer would be a hit with any fan of Red ales.

served in a pint glass. from notes.
a - came to the table with only a thin ring of off white head. beer itself is a translucent copper shade. no lacing.
s - some dark fruits in the nose with a sweet, nutty malt presence.
t - nutty malt up front with a bitter snap of hop character in back. bitterness hangs for a bit before fading away.
m - on the lighter side in body and carbonation.
o - could easily have a few in a sitting. really just a middle of the road beer.

Had on tap at a birthday blowout last night.
A- Pours the typical deep red color. One finger creamy white head shows light retention. Light lacing on the the sides of the glass.
S- Untypical light roasted malts in this one. Well not roasted but more like toasted. Some light caramel malts show up in hints. The one thing I notice though is the floral hops in this one. They shine through the backend which I loved.
T-The toasted malts come through first of all. There is a light sweetness to this beer in the front to middle with a light caramel malt. The backend has a nice hop bite from the floral hops. Quick, sweet, and to the point with this beer which is why I rated it a 4.0.
M- Medium light mouthfeel. Carbonation is good for the beer but on the lower end for the style. A light toasted malt left on the palate. The bitter hops come through the aftertaste. Alcohol does some light drying on the palate. Flavors were crisp and clean. Everything blended well.
D- The drinkability on this beer is rather high. I'm not a huge fan of ambers in the first place but this one stood out in leaps and bounds while still staying close to what a traditional amber tastes like.

This was a very ruby red beer wtih a cream head. The aroma was of a floral hop, they probably dry hopped with something like fuggles or Goldings, if I had to guess. The taste was a smidge roasty with a noticeably sweet finish. Overall the balance was more to malt than hops, with sweetness being stronger than bitterness. I would have preferred perhaps a bit more bitterness to round out that sweetness. Overall a very drinkable beer, and was quite tempted to take some home!

Pours a hazy copper/ reddish color with a off white head. In the aroma, a dry maltiness. In the taste, a maltiness and a touch of sweetness. A smooth and medium mouthfeel, and a semi dry, and roasty aftertaste. Basic red ale, ok, but nothing fantastic.

A surprisingly dark color in the glass, not the bright red/orange that I was expecting. No head to speak of, but the lacing left nice rings on the glass.
Smell was very malty, but with a hoppy red ale kick.
Taste was much like the smell, with alot more malt character than in most reds. But, the hops were there to balance it out nicely.
Mouthfeel was good, I was impressed that it was served at exactly the right temperature.
Drinkability was also good, not harsh at all.
Overall, the definition of a solid beer. Well brewed, even if not overly exciting.

This beer was being served on tap at a Kalamazoo wedding....they had tried to get Bells, but for whatever reason didn't work out....Went down smooth and lacked a painful morning after affect...I believe we went through three of the mini barrels of the stuff, so there didn't seem to be much of a problem...I'd buy it if I had the chance...

This was served from the tap at the brewpub. The color is very dark opaque amber, with a small head. Carmel malty scents dominate the smell. There's not much hop aroma at all, but subtly present. However, upon tasting, there is a nice earthy hop flavor that dominates balanced well with a light toasted malt character in the background. It's very flavorful and smooth. It has a pleasant medium body to it with moderate carbonation.
This is an excellent hoppy red. It's a very nice session beer for hop heads dropping in to the brewpub and goes really well the barbeque chicken.

Last stop on our pubcrawl across Michigan. A good starter ale. Greater fruitiness and hop spiciness that other ambers I've sampled lately. Taste is something close to how Pete's Wicked used to taste. This place gets overlooked because of Bell's being in the same town, but is worth checking out.

This beer was an amber brown color and formed a nice off white head that left some lace. An aroma of hops and fruit. The flavor was of grain, malt and caramel. It had a medium body and a sweet finish.
